The Blackhawks will take on the La Kings today. It is the first time the Blackhawks will play in LA since Game 6 of the Western Conference In case everyone forgot, the Kings won Game 7 in overtime and went on to win the Stanley Cup. With that being said, is this game a revenge game or just another game for the Blackhawks. In my mind this is just another game.
My reasoning is as followed: 1. This is just a regular season game: a trip to the Stanley Cup final is not on the line. The loser in this game does not go home. There is nothing but a regular two points on the line.
2. There is not a real rivalry: The Hawks and Kings are not geographic rivals, they do not fight for fans. The Hawks and Kings don’t have the animosity that the Blues and the Hawks have.
3. The teams are different: the Blackhawks have added Brad Richards and young defenseman. The Kings made some minor changes and have Marian Gaborik for a full year. Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, and Corey Crawford will be focused and play it like another game on the circus trip.
That’s my thoughts on the matter: what do you think??
