The transformation from the Blackhawks’ “goat” of last season to the poster boy of bounce-backs continues for Kris Versteeg, who remained red-hot on the road. After a three-point night in the Blackhawks’ final home game before the trip, Versteeg did anything but cool off, posting four points in the next three games, including the teams’ only goal in their loss to the Canucks. Versteeg took a small step back against the Blackhawks’ division rival Avalanche, finishing pointless with a -1 rating, but #23 bounced back in a big way, recording a pair of two-point nights against both Anaheim and Los Angeles. Versteeg finished with 8 points on the trip, a 1.33 point-per-game rate. If Versteeg can continue his red-hot streak, the Blackhawks will find themselves on the winning side of those tough Western Conference match-ups a lot more often than not as the season rolls on.
