2. No Way This Game Can Live Up To The Last 2 Outdoor Games
The Blackhawks previous 2 outdoor games have been spectacular for it’s own reasons. Wrigley Field is well Wrigley Field and that January 1st day was an announcement to the country and the NHL that the Chicago Blackhawks were back to be a force in the NHL. The views from Wrigley Field were great and even though the Blackhawks would eventually lose to the Red Wings that afternoon it was a spectacle that no Blackhawks fan will ever forget.

After the Wrigley game I didn’t think the Blackhawks game at Soldier Field could top it, but the snow at Soldier Field made it a special night. The first period was almost a blizzard but it was Jonathan Toews goal that special and it was a Blackhawks avalanche of goals at Soldier Field.

The snow and the flurry of goals by the Blackhawks made this a night no Blackhawks fan will ever forget and impossible for this year’s game to even come close with the beating Sidney Crosby and the Penguins as a nice cherry on top.
We could go on and on about how great the games were that Wrigley Field and Soldier Field but they were special nights for a special team, while there is always a chance that the Blackhawks and Capitals could have a game to remember but when they do a countdown of the worst 20 Winter Classics of all-time years from now it’s very likely that this game will be listed near or at the top of the list unfortunately.
1. The Blackhawks Jersey Is A Dud
One of the exciting things about an outdoor game is the expectations of the outdoor jersey, but this year’s jersey was a big miss than a hit for the Chicago Blackhawks. There isn’t much you can do with a white jersey yet the Blackhawks were on the right path with a 1960’s jersey with it’s different look but instead of giving the jersey the old school Blackhawks logo they gave it the new logo with the rest of the jersey looking like the 60’s version.
Nobody ever seems to be happy with the choice but of all the jersey’s the Hawks could have come up with this one is rather disappointing. The jersey was a huge buzzkill when it could have kicked up or kick started the excitement for the game so don’t expect to see many of these jersey’s on anyone until they hit the markdown rack in a few months.
Like I said at the beginning the outdoor games are fun to watch but here are my reasons that there isn’t much buzz leading up to the game. What do you think is there buzz?
