This week in the NHL: the Devils fired their coach the day after Christmas, The World Junior Championship started, and the NHL Christmas break.

30. The Edmonton Oilers: 7-22-7: The Oilers are BAD and now look even worse with the success of the Calgary Flames.

29. Carolina Hurricanes: 10-21-4: Jiri Tlusty and Jordan Staal are practicing but have yet to return for the Canes. They need both of them back.

28. New Jersey Devils: 12-18-7: The Devils fired Peter DeBoer the day after Christmas..Merry Christmas! The Devils will not have a head coach but several coaches. The coaches Adam Oates and Scott Stevens will act as head coach. Lou Lamoriello will also help coach the team.. Take all of that in.

27. Arizona Coyotes 13-8-4: The Coyotes are the unluckiest team in the NHL but a fluky goal helped beat the Ducks. The Coyotes do have a good coach in Dave Tippet.

26. Buffalo Sabres 14-19-3: The Sabres are playing way better. They came back against the New York Islanders to win this past week.

25. Colorado Avalanche 13-14-8: The Avalanche are the in the midst of a horrible season but they might have found their goalie of the future in Calvin Pickard. Pickard has filled in for the injured Semyon Varlamov.
