Last season Kris Versteeg was AWFUL. Verseteeg had rushed himself back from a knee injury suffered a year prior. He tallied 12 goals and 24 assists between the Blackhawks and the Florida Panthers. Many people wanted Versteeg shipped out of town in the offseason, but the Blackhawks held onto him.
After a full offseason, Versteeg appeared to be healthy and was having a resurgent year. Being paired with Brad Richards and Patrick Kane, Versteeg was proving all his critics wrong and giving the Blackhawks a very good second line. Now his season will be put on hold for a month. Versteeg took a shot off his hand from Eric Fehr in the third period of the Winter Classic. He went to the locker room and did not return.
The Blackhawks announced today that Versteeg will be out for a month with a hand injury. Before the injury, Versteeg had nine goals and 18 assists on the season. With Versteeg being out a month, the Blackhawks recalled Teuvo Teravainen. Teravainen has six goals and 17 assists in 33 games with the Rockford Ice Hogs.
