19. Florida Panthers 17-10-9: The Panthers continue to shock everyone in the NHL. They have gone 6-2-2 in their last ten games. Roberto Luongo has another great performance this past week. He shut out the Sabres to move past Patrick Roy on the all time wins list.

18. Winnipeg Jets 20-12-7: The Jets got off their losing streak in a big way. They routed the Leafs 6-1. The Jets won despite playing without their top four defensemen and Evander Kane. Michael Hutchison continues to be solid in net for the Jets this season.

17. Calgary Flames 21-16-3: The Flames Jonny Gaudreau won NHL rookie of the month for December. He has eight goals and five assists in the month. He also notched his first career hat trick. That should silence some of his critics.

16. Los Angeles Kings 19-12-9: The Kings ended their five game losing streak last week only to start another one after falling to the Predators. The Kings have six more games in a row at home and hope to gain some ground in the West.

15. Vancouver Canucks 22-12-3: The Canucks are a maddening team, they are not good but they are not a team. They are just about average. Ryan Miller finally got the best of his brother on Saturday night. Miller had 29 saves in 4-1 victory over the Wings.
