With the 2015 NHL All-Star game just a matter of days away in Columbus, Ohio, the mystique surrounding the event is slowly disappearing, as piece by piece, it comes together.
A big part of that was taken care of on Saturday, when the rosters were announced, but Friday saw the reveal of the jerseys those said All-Stars will don in the big game.
To say the jerseys were met with ‘mixed reviews’ would be putting it lightly.
The NHL veered away from the traditional blue and white of years past, opting for neon green, silver and black.

The jerseys were designed by Reebok, who also outfits all 30 NHL teams. A Reebok spokesperson remarked that ‘several’ designers had been working on the jerseys over the past few years. They certainly had lots of time, with the last All-Star game coming back in 2012.
From the neon green primary color, to the “All-Star” lettering taking the place of each players’ home club logo, there is definitely lots to get accustomed to in Reebok’s new threads. They certainly made a statement with the jersey release, including drastically changing the look and feel of the NHL’s own crest.
The jersey features a Nashville Predators-like neckline, something introduced in the Reebok Edge era that has survived through the years, much to the dismay of some fans.
Hockey purists will have a heyday when they first lay eyes on the jerseys, and even the casual fan will have to take a moment to get used to the NFL Pro Bowl-like digs. Only a day after the release, however, time will tell if the new design will grow on fans. If the past is any indication, Reebok and the NHL have a steep hill to climb in that regard.
You’ll get a chance to see Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews, Brent Seabrook, Duncan Keith, and Corey Crawford in those talked-about threads in two weeks, as the Blackhawks will send those five players to the game.
