The Chicago Blackhawks lost all three games at home this season against the Winnipeg Jets and we all know that last night was the final addition to the trilogy of Jets wins. The Blackhawks had some great efforts last night but there was one effort that stood out as the missing person last night.
The game wasn’t decided on one play and to be honest my first inclination was to nominate David Rundblad who was undressed by Andrew Ladd in the corner on a very nonchalant play and Rundblad’s turnover ended up in the back of the net and all the first period momentum that the Blackhawks had built up from the opening faceoff and through the Brandon Saad quick goal was gone, but no I’m not nominating David Rundblad.
To me the real Milk Carton nominee goes to Daniel Carcillo and it’s not because you didn’t notice him during the game, it’s because his head was missing from the first time he ran at someone until his cross check that cost the Blackhawks a powerplay when they needed one to pick up the leading goal.
Bryan Bickell set the tone for the game, but it was Carcillo who lost his mind like we all know he can and it all started with his first shift. He took several runs at Winnipeg Jets but somehow the refs overlooked the risky play by Carcillo.

During the day before the game I asked if there was a difference between Carcillo and Joakim Nordstrom and almost everyone wanted Carcillo because of his experience and jump. Well to me the game turned for good when Carcillo took a stupid cross check penalty at the wrong time, and left a player injured who didn’t return to the game to boot.
The Blackhawks are best when they are rolling four lines and if you ask me rolling those four lines without Carcillo is just fine by me and if you have any question just look at last night’s gametape.
Who is your Milk carton nominee from last night’s game?
