The Chicago Blackhawks looked to put the LA third period in their rear view mirror and this how things transpired from Anaheim as the Blackhawks took on the Ducks on their home ice Friday night.

The first period was one quick period without very many whistles and it was fun to watch.  The Blackhawks got on the board first when Patrick Kane found the Captain Jonathan Toews on the wing and he didn’t miss on the shot. The Blackhawks out shot the Ducks 13-7 in the first period but it was Corey Crawford who had to make more quality saves and he made all of them in the first period.  The hitting and neutral zone play had everyone saying it felt like a playoff game and the score at the end of one reflected it with the Hawks leading 1-0 while heading to the 1st intermission.

The Blackhawks picked it up another notch in the second period with the Blackhawks extending their lead.  The Blackhawks made a 2-0 hockey game when Clayton Stoner tripped Jonathan Toews into the Anaheim Goalie and Duncan Keith blistered one to the back of the net.  The goal was Keith’s 400th career point and it made him only the 26th Blackhawks to ever get to the 400 point total.

The Blackhawks made it 3-0 when Patrick Sharp picked up the puck in the neutral zone and dropped it to Patrick Kane and Kane did what Patrick Kane does and scored one with a nasty shot that Anderson had zero chance on.  The Hawks head to the third period dominating the game and have only allowed 14 shots through 2 periods and Crawford has been very strong when tested through 2 periods.

Third Period

The start of the third period was a bit slow with the Hawks not pressing and the Ducks took advantage. They even got a 5 on 3 out of it and the Ducks finally got on the board. The Blackhawks took back the 3 goal cushion when Sharp found Kane all  alone in front of the Ducks net and Kane didn’t miss.

One of the biggest stars of the night was Crawford who redeemed himself after the LA debacle and everyone will feel good until the faceoff tomorrow night in San Jose.
