The Chicago Blackhawks easily defeated the best team in the Western Conference last night in their rink shooting down the Ducks 4-1 and now they face the San Jose Sharks on back to back nights at the Shark Tank in San Jose.
The Blackhawks looked to playing at a very high level last night with their skating and scoring and although they only gave up 22 shots Corey Crawford looked very good stopping quite a few quality chances last night in the Blackhawks win. It had to be the best game of the season for Patrick Sharp who really looked to be a man on a mission last night. Sharp played at the level he was at when he was unofficially auditioning for the Canadian Olympic Team in the first half of last season.
Of course it didn’t hurt that Sharp kept passing it to Patrick Kane who after another 3 point night is only 2 points out of the top spot in the NHL for points. Kane after a sluggish start to the season has really cranked it up in his playmaking and scoring.
The Sharks are in the tightly bunched Pacific Division with 4 teams within 4 points of 2nd place trailing the division leading Ducks by an almost insurmountable 12 points with a third of the season left to play. The Sharks are pretty much the same team we have come to know and love especially when they disappear in the playoffs. They beat the Ducks 6-3 on Thursday night at home so their confidence should be pretty high entering the game tonight against the Blackhawks. Here is the viewing info for tonight’s game.

Last night’s prediction had the Hawks winning 4-3 in a shootout. Well the 4 part is the only thing I got correct about the prediction. Sharp had 4 assists but no goals and Kane scored twice in the game not in any unnecessary shootout.
Tonight’s prediction is that we will witness a high scoring affair with the Hawks coming out on top 6-4. Brad Richards will get a goal as will Teuvo Teravainen. Raanta will struggle at times but pick up the victory.
