There are two bright sides to tonight’s game, it ends the nightmare homestand and for the Hawks and it means they get to head to Florida to get out of the cold and snow and well maybe a chance to get away from Chicago and get their heads put on straight.

The long homestand was suppose to be a springboard to challenging the St. Louis Blues for 2nd place in the Central, but the Blackhawks are now looking over their shoulders at the Winnipeg Jets who luckily haven’t been as hot as they were before the All-Star break.

Tonight during the telecast you will hear about getting back to the basics, simplify, and getting net front presence which the Hawks need to do but they need to open up their offense without over passing and simply getting pucks on net with players crashing the net.

The Florida Panthers are trying to crash the party in the Eastern Conference playoff race.  Of course the Hawks didn’t do them any favors on Sunday by losing to the Bruins.  The Panthers are a mix of veterans and some really young talent but when talking about the telecast you will hear about all the former Hawks playing for the Panthers.

Jimmy Hayes has had a very nice season for the Panthers and he’s 2nd on the team with goals scored with 17.  The player that is most disappointing has to be Dave Bolland who only has 3 goals and 13 assists in 37 games, but I’m sure most Blackhawks fans wish he still wore the Blackhawks jersey.

My prediction missed terribly on the victor and the final score, but the one thing I did get right was predicting a Bryan Bickell goal on Sunday afternoon which I guess is a small victory but after watching the game there really wasn’t any victories to claim.

Tonight’s prediction has me seeing the Blackhawks playing their most focused game they have played since the circus trip.  They will get traffic in front and they will get pucks on net and they will beat the Panthers going away 4-1.  Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews will both score in the Hawks victory.
