Jonathan Toews Picks Up Point #500

Jonathan Toews had played in 555 previous regular season games in his Chicago Blackhawks career before tonight, and in his 556th in of all places Raleigh, North Carolina Toews picked up a milestone his 500th career point. It was of course a picture of his hard work by blocking a shot that lead to a goal for point #500, and that’s why he’s a great leader.
Toews is one of the best if not they best two way center in the NHL with a 2013 Selke Trophy to prove that point, but the Captain of the Chicago Blackhawks is a great offensive talent that routinely puts up 50-70 points a season while taking on some of the toughest defensive assignments night in and night out.
Toews has had some really special goals during his career including his first ever in his first game as a Blackhawk.
The Captain of the Chicago Blackhawks since 2008 entering tonight’s game had 218 goals and 281 assists before picking up point #500. Toews becomes just the 15th Chicago Blackhawks player to ever collect 500 points in a Chicago Blackhawk jersey. The list is pretty impessive.
Stan Mikita- 1,467
Bobby Hull-1,153
Denis Savard-1,096
Steve Larmer-923
Doug Wilson -779
Dennis Hull-640
Pit Martin-627
Jeremy Roenick-596
Patrick Kane-557
Tony Amonte-541
Bill Mosienko-540
Kenny Wharram-533
Doug Bentley-531
Bob Murray-514
Patrick Sharp-506
The Captain’s accomplishments is very impressive from 2 Stanley Cups, 1 Selke, 1 Conn Smythe, 2 Olympic Gold Medals and being the Captains for the Blackhawks since 2008. Jonathan Toews is the leader and face of the franchise along with his long time running mate Patrick Kane and with Kane out for the rest of the regular season Toews has picked up his scoring pace which included his 500th career point tonight.
One thing that Toews may never win is a Hart trophy even though if you ask GMs or any hockey experts what player would they select if they were about to start a franchise and build a Stanley Cup Champion the choice is almost unanimous Jonathan Toews. Now we are celebrating a career accomplishment that took a little longer than Kane but he’s still there and only 26 years old with a brand new 8 year contract about to kick in next season.
The Blackhawks already had a gererational tandem with Stan Mikita and Bobby Hull and now the Hawks are in another generational era with Kane and Toews and now both these Blackhawks have 500 career points and probably one day if they stay relatively healthy will join Mikita and Hull as teammates with 1,000 career points
Today Toews has collected Point #500!! Congrats Toews!!
