Three Chicago Blackhawks That Need to Shine In Round one

By Sean Fitzgerald

The Blackhawks begin their question for another Stanley Cup on Wednesday April 15th. The Blackhawks will be facing the Nashville Predators in the first round. With the Blackhawks scuffing their way into the playoffs, they need the whole team to shine in the playoffs. However, we have identified three specific players that need to step upfor the Blackhawks to advance in the playoffs. Now everyone knows that Corey Crawford, and Jonathan Toews, and Marian Hossa need to step up. Here are three players not named Crawford, Toews, and Hossa.

  1. Michal Rozsival: To say Rozsival has struggled this season would be the understatement of the year. In years past, Rozsival had been a platoon player with Sheldon Brookbank but the cap dictated the Hawks had to get younger on defense. This season he has been guilty of countless defensive zone turnovers. Despite his poor play, Coach Quenneville continues to play him in pressure situations. Rozisval has one goal, 12 assists and is a zero in plus minus during this regular season. In the playoffs, Rozsival has five goals and 19 assists in 92 games. If the Blackhawks want to advance past the first round Rozsival HAS to play well.
  1. Antoine Vermette: Vermette was acquired to provide some center depth and some offensive punch. He has 13 goals before joining the Blackhawks. In the eyes of everyone Vermette has been a bust with the Blackhawks. He not scored a SINGLE goal. He has only recorded three assists in 19 games. The Blackhawks and their fans are BEGGING Vermette to start scoring goals! For his career Vermette has scored nine goals and recorded nine assists in 58 career playoff games. If he does not start scoring, it could be a small playoff beard this year.
  1. Bryan Bickell: It is the playoff time, so that means it is Bryan Bickell time. Bickell seems to up his entire game during the playoffs. Well the Blackhawks need Bickell now more than ever this season. In 57 playoff games, Bickell has 20 goals and 14 assists. When the Blackhawks have been in a pickle, they have counted on Bryan Bickell. Can they count on him this year???

The Blackhawks have lost four in row entering the playoffs. The team is in desperate need to a spark on offense. They need SOMEONE to step up and help this team win games. Here are just three guys that need to step. The whole team really needs to start playing better.
