Hopefully for the Hawks, not a lot can be taken from this game, as they were in their late season “Is it the playoffs yet?” slump. The Wild won by a score of 2-1. The Hawks outshot the Wild 33-30, but Dubnyk stopped all but one.
It was with this victory that Minnesota was able to officially clinch the playoffs, capping off the most improbable of late-season comebacks.
As you can see, the Hawks faced both Wild teams. They dominated the lowly, under-performing Wild of the 1st half of the season and the dominant and inspired Wild of the 2nd half of the season.
What’s unsettling is that it’s the Wild of the 2nd half of the season that defeated the St. Louis Blues in the 1st round and will be facing the Hawks in the 2nd round.
The Hawks have yet to figure out the 2.0 version of the 2014-2015 Minnesota Wild and yes that is worrisome, but the Hawks are a different team this time of year.
This will be a difficult series, that’s for sure.
