Chicago Blackhawks Morning Links: All Quiet On Western Front

By Sean Fitzgerald

The Chicago Blackhawks will endure the shortest offseason in the NHL for the third time in six years. With that being said, the first of the Blackhawks’ summer events kicks off this weekend. The Blackhawks will hold prospect camp this weekend at Johnny’s Ice House West. Prospect camp allows fans and the Blackhawks coaching staff an opportunity to look at younger players within the organization.

While some players are well known, others might be foreign to Blackhawks fans. The top prize in the Brandon Saad trade, Marko Dano will be attending his first and likely only Blackhawks prospect game this season. This will also be Stephen Johns‘ record sixth prospect game. For those wanting to see Jeremy Morin, he will not be in attendance.

  • There is no admission or tickets required for fans to attend. Camp will open this Sunday and conclude Friday, July 17.

After prospect camp this weekend, the Blackhawks will hold their annual Blackhawks convention July 17-19. People can still find tickets for this event on resale websites.

After the convention and prospect camp, hopefully the Blackhawks will liven up the trade market by moving one of their high-cost players. The Blackhawks likely still need to move Bryan Bickell or Patrick Sharp.
