1st Defensive pairing – Dustin Byfuglien (Winnipeg Jets)-Johnny Oduya (Dallas Stars)

The Ex-Hawks don’t have any pure defensive defensemen on this roster, which means Oduya will have to take the role as the team’s best defender. Byfuglien’s offensive mindset gets him into trouble sometimes, as evidenced by his minus-24 rating in four seasons in Winnipeg.

Oduya is 33 and not a star, but he is a solid defenseman who can be relied upon in dire situations. This first pairing wouldn’t be a lockdown unit, but it would certainly be a reliable tandem.
