Toronto dealt Phil Kessel to Pittsburgh, and it feels like no player on the current roster is safe. James van Riemsdyk has survived the latest offseason, but he could be placed back on the block this season. The Leafs lack a lot of long-term solutions at positions such as first-line center and could use an impactful defenseman.
It will be a big year for Nazem Kadri and Joffrey Lupul, who will need to pick up the production Kessel’s absence creates. The Leafs also have an aging defensive group and have yet to find a solution at goalie.
