Chicago Blackhawks: Twitter Reaction To 5-1 Victory In Montreal

By Keith Schultz

The Chicago Blackhawks traveled to Montreal on Friday night with basically their B-team with most of the Blackhawks stars staying in Chicago, and facing them in Montreal was only the best goalie on the planet Carey Price.  Of course this is preseason and well it’s hockey so no better way to kick off your Friday night with your favorite team.

The Blackhawks didn’t waste too much time getting on the scoreboard when the powerplay scored halfway through the first period with a Ryan Garbutt deflection getting credit for the tally. David Rundblad was thought to have scored, but in the end it was Garbutt’s.

Garbutt has been pretty solid in the preseason and is sure fighting for a spot with in the lineup.  He’s an annoying player like Andrew Shaw so the bottom six could become very feisty this season.

The second goal of the night was set by the Star of the night Kyle Baun on a nice tic tac toe goal that was started by Andrew Desjardins and finished off by Garrett Ross.

Three minutes later Baun knocked in a rebound and just like that the Chicago Blackhawks B-team were up 3-0 against Price and the Canadiens.

Another player that looked solid was Lemont Native Scott Darling who only gave up one goal the entire night and looked ready for the season to start.  After Darling gave up his only goal, Baun scored his second of the night on a tip-in.  Baun had a huge night with a 2 goals and an assist and sure is making it tough on Joel Quenneville to make a roster decision.  Baun is a big kid with good hands and would look good in the lineup on the bottom six.

One of my players to watch tonight was Jan Hejda and he ended up scoring an empty net goal.  We asked if he should win a roster spot.

The final score was 5-1 and one thing was apparent that Price wasn’t into the preseason game.

The Hawks win and play again tomorrow night when they host the St. Louis Blues, so we should see more star power on the United Center Ice tomorrow night.

What was your take aways from the 5-1 victory?
