Chicago Blackhawks Morning Links- Practice Makes Perfect

By Keith Schultz

Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! I’ve been in charge of Blackhawk Up since the middle of the 2012-2013 NHL Lockout, and one thing that has been extremely noticeable during that time is that the Chicago Blackhawks practice for very short amounts of time.

During the lockout season it was taken for granted there was little practice time because of the compact schedule of getting 48 games into basically 3 months.  The year after the lockout the schedule was compacted again with the Olympics right there in the middle of the schedule.  Even last year with a completely normal schedule for the regular season, you never really heard or read about the Chicago Blackhawks practicing for long amounts of time, or there being anything remotely close to the scene out of Miracle when they ran practice over and over again.

Well, yesterday Joel Quenneville decided for the first time in a long time to go old school and have a long practice to work on many things like the Chicago Blackhawks normally poor power play and some 3 on 3 overtime play.  With all of the new blood in camp and on the roster it was probably a good time for the coach to turn back to his old school roots during the preseason.  Hopefully in the end like Herb Brooks’s method it will pay off in the end.  Here are some morning links to kick off your Wednesday morning
