9. The Dallas Stars make the playoffs with a timeshare of Kari Lehtonen and Antti Niemi in goal

Kari Lehtonen and Antti Niemi as full-time starters do not sound great. Kari Lehtonen and Antti Niemi in a timeshare? That could work. Lehtonen and Niemi are both experienced starters who have had flashes of great play throughout their career. They aren’t great goaltenders at this stage, but the tandem could be good enough to get Dallas back into the playoffs.

It might not matter who is in net. The Stars are going to score a heck of a lot this season. The addition of Patrick Sharp and Johnny Oduya gives Dallas some experienced players to go with a nucleus of Jamie Benn, Tyler Seguin, John Klingberg and others. The Stars have the talent to get to the postseason. The goaltending just needs to be good enough to get them there.
