Chicago Blackhawks Vs New York Islanders: Start Time, TV Listings And More

By Keith Schultz

The Chicago Blackhawks make their first trip to Brooklyn when the New York Islanders make their regular season debut in their new building the Barclays Center. For fans travelling to the Barclays Center good seats could be an issue with some bad sight lines which is hard to imagine in a brand new state of the art building in 2015.  Back in the day they put seats behind polls, but in today’s building this seems hard to believe.

On to the game, the Chicago Blackhawks will be looking to get the first victory and points of the season as they travel to Brooklyn to face a team with their own Stanley Cup aspirations.  The Islanders are a fun team to watch led by star John Tavares.  There big question mark isn’t how many times they can score, but how many times they can keep the puck out of their own net.

The Chicago Blackhawks look to have a small change in their lineup tonight when Viktor Tikhonov gets his first NHL action.  Tikhonov was a former first round pick now is getting a second chance after playing in the KHL for a few seasons while being Artem Panarin’s interpreter.  We all said that the line up Bryan Bickell, Andrew Shaw, and Kyle Baun didn’t look much like a typical third line, and it didn’t take long for Joel Quenneville to make a change.

The biggest change will probably come when they get done giving Marko Dano his “Blackhawks lesson” and call him up from Rockford, and send Baun back down to Rockford for some more seasoning. I really don’t see a need for Baun in the lineup when you already have Bickell.

Corey Crawford will be the starting goalie tonight in Brooklyn, and with back to back games against the Islanders, Scott Darling probably will get the start back in Chicago on Saturday night.  Here is the rest of the programming you need to know for tonight’s action between the Blackhawks and the Islanders

It’s always fun to see the Blackhawks in New York, but it will be interesting to see how the Islanders translate to Brooklyn after 43 years on Long Island.  Game #2 is only a few hours away and the Cubs playoff game will be on at the same time, how will you be watching the Hawks tonight?
