1. But what about the Flyers’ roster?

What about it, indeed.

The Flyers have largely the same roster that finished sixth in the Metropolitan Division last season. They do have some very good players, though.

Claude Giroux is a fantastic player. He will be playing in his 500th career game tonight. He is a point-per-game player on a bad team, but if he’s surrounded by better players, he is beyond a point-per-game player.

Long story short, the man is an elite scorer.

Jakub Voracek led the team with 81 points with 59(!) assists last season. Wayne Simmonds led the team with 28 goals last season.

Last season, the Flyers were a near-bottom possession team, which likely has to do with their thin, aging blueline. Goaltender Steve Mason had one of his best seasons with a .928 save percentage in 51 games played. However, he will be out with a family issue tonight, and the ’Hawks will see Michal Neuvirth instead.

While the matchup certainly favors the ’Hawks, they have struggled to win in Philadelphia. They have not won at the Wells Fargo Center since Game 6 of the 2010 Stanley Cup Final.

We shall see.

Go ’Hawks!
