Chicago Blackhawks Morning Links- Happy Veterans Day!

By Keith Schultz

Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! Before we get to anything else, Let me say Happy Veterans Day to anyone and everyone that has served our great country!  You are the real heros!  If it wasn’t for you we wouldn’t be able to watch the Chicago Blackhawks or be able to write this blog about the Chicago Blackhawks or quite frankly be able to live in the greatest country that has ever existed!  Thank you for your service and dedication!

As most people know, the name Blackhawks did come from the armed forces. The original owner of the Chicago Blackhawks, Thomas McLaughlin who had made his money as a coffee tycoon put $12,000 down to acquire the rights to a new franchise in Chicago.  McLaughlin had fought in World War I in the 333rd Battalion of the 86th Division of the U.S. Army whose nickname was actually the Blackhawks.  It was in honor of the Sioux  Indian who had sided with the British during the War of 1812, so in honor of his army battalion he named his franchise the Blackhawks.  So as you can see the original owner was a Veteran and the team name has a lot to do with this day!

Once again, Happy Veterans Day and THANK YOU!!!!!!!  Here are some morning links to kick off this special day to all our Veterans!
