No. 30: C Clint Smith

Seasons captain: 1944-45

Win percentage: .330 (13-30-7)

Playoff appearances: 0

Longest playoff run: N/A

Regular-season statistics as captain: 50 games, 23 goals, 31 assists

As you can see, Smith posted some solid statistics in his one season as Blackhawks captain. But the team around him just wasn’t good, so he gets bumped to just above the honorable-mention section. Like Jack Stewart after him, Smith was coming off a Hall of Fame-worthy tenure with a different team when he arrived in Chicago, in this case the New York Rangers, with whom he won a Stanley Cup. The Blackhawks qualified for the playoffs twice in Smith’s four seasons with the club, but not during the one in which he was the team leader.
