No. 29: C Dick Irvin

Seasons captain: 1926-27 through 1928-29

Win percentage: .302 (33-86-15)

Playoff appearances: 1

Longest playoff run: 1927 quarterfinals loss

Regular-season statistics as captain: 94 games, 29 goals, 23 assists

Playoff statistics as captain: 2 games, 2 goals

Another late bloomer, Irvin was the Blackhawks’ very first captain, accepting the post in his first NHL season at age 34. Irvin’s best season, by far, was his first one (18 goals, 18 assists), in which the Blackhawks made their only playoff showing with Irvin as captain. Luckily for Irvin, he’d go on to win 692 games as a 27-year NHL coach, qualifying him for the Hall of Fame. Unluckily, only 45 of those came while he was coaching the Blackhawks. Bummer.
