The First One
The first one is always the best right? As any long time suffering Chicago Blackhawks fans could tell you before 2010 the Chicago Blackhawks hadn’t won a Stanley Cup Championship since 1961 when Bobby Hull and Stan Mikita were just young pups.
The Chicago Blackhawks were in a high scoring series with the Philadelphia Flyers with the home team winning the first 5 games of the series so when the Hawks traveled to Philly for Game #6 a win wasn’t a guarantee.
The Hawks looked good for most of the game, but the Flyers had a knack of storming back which they did to tie the game up and nearly won it in regulation.
The game did head to overtime and one of those endings you never forget. Patrick Kane did some jukes and then from a terrible angle beat Michael Leighton and nobody knew the puck was in including announcer Doc Emerick.
When it was ruled a good goal, the city celebration was on and boy was it great to say Stanley Cup Champion for the first time in my years of being a Chicago Blackhawks fan!
