The Thanksgiving holiday in the United States has brought about an odd game time for the Chicago Blackhawks tonight. With the league attempting to take advantage of a larger-than-normal general population available to watch TV, the Blackhawks and Anaheim Ducks will be featured on NBC Sports Network at 4 p.m. An unusual time for a Friday game, to be sure, but many more people than usual will be in front of their TVs the day after Thanksgiving than on most Friday afternoons, and it’s only a 2 p.m. start in California, where the game will be held.
The NHL has a somewhat-full slate today, with the New York Rangers and Boston Bruins kicking off action on a national telecast at noon Central. Besides that game and Blackhawks-Ducks, 10 other games will be contested today.
After facing Anaheim, the Blackhawks will quickly move on to Staples Center for the second half of a back-to-back against the Los Angeles Kings. That game, which starts at 9:30 p.m. Central, will conclude the Blackhawks’ six-game circus trip, on which they’re currently 2-1-1.
