There it is Chicago Blackhawks fans.  Patrick Kane extends his point streak to 22 games and sets the new record for the Chicago Blackhawks.  As we all know Kane breaks the record that Bobby Hull had held for 44 years at 21 games.

Of course Kane isn’t even halfway to the NHL record of 51 games held by Wayne Gretzky, but this is a Chicago Blackhawks celebration and we are celebrating Kane for making it 22 straight.

The top three streaks in Chicago Blackhawks history are now

Patrick Kane-22

Bobby Hull-21

Denis Savard-19

The point also gives Patrick Kane with 599 career points and he’s now one point away from becoming only the 8th player in franchise history to score 600 career points as well.

The Chicago Blackhawks have been struggling to score goals this season outside of the second line that is anchored by Kane.  It’s been amazing how quick that Kane and Artemi Panarin have built up a chemistry that is hard to match especially about from a player that was supposed to be adjusting to the NHL size rinks after playing his young career on the larger European rinks.

Kane also has been accompanied on the top line with Artem Anisimov who came over in the Brandon Saad trade and along with Panarin has made one sensational line that has put up points in all but two of the Chicago Blackhawks game this season.

The Kane streak and accumulation of points this season should not be too big of a surprise since Kane would have probably won the Hart Trophy last season if it wasn’t for the broken clavicle he suffered forcing him to miss last part of the regular season.  Kane is close to getting his career point total up to a point a game.

Now it’s just another record and feather in the cap for Patrick Kane who has been working his magic on the ice since hopping on the ice for the first time in a Chicago Blackhawks uniform back in 2007.  Of course his biggest moment was back in 2010 when he snuck a puck past Michael Leighton to the far post in Philadelphia to win Game #6 of the Stanley Cup Final to end a 49 year drought.

The fact that the Chicago Blackhawks have won 3 Stanley Cups now in 6 seasons is kind of crazy when you look back at things after going so long with some good teams that just couldn’t win it all.

Kane now breaks a 44 year record.  22 games and counting for Kane!

What do you think of his record?
