5 Chicago Blackhawks Christmas List Desires

A wonderful time of the year is upon us. Traffic will soon be worse than ever. Gas prices will rise due to impending traffic. Your flight that you spent a whole week’s paycheck on will inevitably get delayed due to severe weather shifts or a sleeping air traffic controller. On top of all that, you have to sit there and smile while you wear that itchy, uncomfortable sweater that Grandma got you.

At least we have hockey.

The Chicago Blackhawks have had their ups and downs this season, but overall, we have cause for a celebration. A new-look ‘Hawks team entered the season with many of us in doubt, but despite all of their wild trades, crazy line combinations and the return of Michal Rozsival, the ‘Hawks are in the running for a Central Division spot in the playoffs. That’s all we could ask for, right?

Well, I am not so easy to please, so here are some things that I think we would all love to see the ‘Hawks give us for Christmas.

We ‘Hawks fans had been spoiled in recent years with the fantastic Winter Classic and Stadium Series jerseys. But what happened to the alternate jerseys? Where is the black? Why only tease us with a black Stadium Series jersey? We want the black back. We need it. We live for it.

4. One More Trade

In the words of the late and great Bernie Mac, let me break it down like a fraction for you. Trevor Daley and Ryan Garbutt were involved in the trade of Patrick Sharp and Stephen Johns. The ‘Hawks have now traded Daley for Rob Scuderi. They’ve essentially traded a three-time Stanley Cup Champion in Sharp and a promising defensive prospect in Johns for Garbutt and Scuderi. That is just terrifying in so many ways. This most-recent trade seems to be a move made to create cap room. I think that I speak for us all when I say, “PLEASE, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, HAVE SOMETHING UP YOUR SLEEVE, STAN BOWMAN.”

3. A Calmer Jonathan Toews

Toews has certainly been … different this season. While he seems to be back on track to his usual self, we saw an unusual amount of fight in Toews. While it’s always great to see you captain get involved in the scrum, he is someone you can’t do without for five or 10 minutes. The opposing team knows this and will act accordingly. Toews needs to continue to be level-headed if the ‘Hawks want to continue their success.
