Chicago Blackhawks Blown Away By Dallas Stars

By Sean Fitzgerald

The Chicago Blackhawks visited the Central Division-leading Dallas Stars. It was the first time the Blackhawks faced former teammates Patrick Sharp and Johnny Oduya. It was also the first time long-time Star Ryan Garbutt faced his former team. The Blackhawks and Stars would play very close hockey until the third period. In the third period, the Stars blitzkrieged the Blackhawks and eventually won 4-0.

The Blackhawks had two powerplays in the first period, and they were horrible.

The first period ended with no goals by either team. The Stars would get the only goal they’d need in the second period off a powerplay tally by Jason Spezza. They then ramped up their offensive intensity in the third behind a goal 11 seconds into the period from Sharp.

The Stars added two goals before the final 20 minutes was over, and the Blackhawks managed just three shots in that time.

The Stars improved to 54 points for the season, while the Blackhawks fell to third place in the division and stayed at 44 points.
