Good morning Chicago Blackhawks fans! Happy Festivus to you! Yes, Seinfeld was one of my favorite shows and the Festivus episode was one of their funnier ones. So if you forgot about the weird Holiday here’s a quick look back.
So in honor of Festivus, the first portion of the Holiday is the Airing of Grievances! I have a lot of complaining to do after last nights 4-0 shut out loss to the Dallas Stars. Before I get too carried away let’s not forget the Hawks were minus Marian Hossa and this was the first game against Patrick Sharp and Johnny Oduya as ex-Hawks.
To start the Rob Scuderi/Michal Rozsival pairing is just bad, but something nobody really talks about is the fact the Trevor Van Riemsdyk has regressed a bit even though Joel Quenneville has given him minutes like he’s a seasoned veteran that’s never out of position.
Secondly, the bottom six is chalk full of Andrew Shaw‘s and against a team that can score seemingly at will a bunch of #65’s won’t cut it! Andrew Shaw is a fine 4th liner but having Brandon Mashinter, Ryan Garbutt and Andrew Desjardins also on the bottom six isn’t the scoring punch the Hawks need from possible secondary scoring.
I don’t care who the Hawks call up, but they need someone down there to score whether it’s Marko Dano or heaven forbid Jeremy Morin. Something needs to change.
And now to the Feats of Strength or morning links to kick off your Festivus
