With the end of the year upon us, everyone seems to take stock of their previous 365 days and evaluate their progress. So I decided to take stock and evaluate every transaction that Chicago Blackhawks General Manager Stan Bowman made in 2015. All the transactions are courtesy of

February 1  2015: Blackhawks Trade Adam Clendening, defenseman, to Vancouver for Gustav Forsling

Initial Reaction: The initial reaction had to be shock; why would the Blackhawks make this trade? Clendening was the Blackhawks’ top defensive prospect. He had appeared in 38 games for Rockford and had 13 points. Forsling had only appeared in the SWHL for 38 games and was 18 years old.

Current Assessment: Clendening is on his second team since being traded from the Blackhawks. He appeared in 17 games with Canucks, amassing 2 assists for 2 points. He was sent to their AHL affiliate for 11 games. He had 5 points. The Canucks then traded him to the Penguins this offseason. Forsling is ranked as the sixth-best defensive prospect for the Blackhawks. He is playing for Sweden in the World Junior Championships.

Grade: C-. We know Clendening is not a top-four NHL defenseman, while the jury is still out on Forsling.
