June 27th, 2015: The Blackhawks acquired Ryan Haggerty, right wing, from the New York Rangers, for Antti Raanta, goaltender

Initial Reaction: The Blackhawks traded Raanta because he was expendable. They had Darling and didn’t need Raanta anymore. Raanta would have had to pass through waivers and someone would have claimed him had they tried to send him to the AHL.

Current Assessment: The Blackhawks swapped to minor players in Raanta for Haggerty. Raanta is currently backing up Henrik Lundqvist, while Haggerty is in Rockford. Raanta also did not endure himself to Blackhawks fan when he admitted to rooting against the Blackhawks in the Nashville Predators series. Haggerty has appeared in 8 games for the IceHogs.
