February 28, 2015: The Blackhawks acquire Antoine Vermette, right wing, for Klas Dahlbeck, defenseman, and a 2015 first-round pick.

Initial Reaction: YES! The Blackhawks got some additional scoring to help supplement the loss of Patrick Kane. Vermette is a veteran scorer and provided the Blackhawks additional depth for the playoff push.

Current Assessment: Although Vermette struggled to find his scoring touch during the regular season, he found his game in the playoffs. Vermette recorded three game-winning goals and help propel the Blackhawks to win the Stanley Cup. Vermette had 4 goals and 3 assists in the Stanley Cup playoffs. The price was not as high as originally believed. Dahlbeck plays for Arizona and is relatively effective. He might end up being a bottom-pairing defenseman. The Coyotes used their first-round pick from the Blackhawks on Nicholas Merkley. Merkley could be a forward who plays all three forward positions eventually.
