The Blackhawks are going streaking!  They enter tonight’s game riding a five game winning streak. The Blackhawks are coming off back to back victories over the Pittsburgh Penguins. Two of the main cogs in the Blackhawks last two victories were Artemi Panarin and Corey Crawford.

In the two games against Pittsburgh, Artemi Panarin scored four goals in a two game showing against the Penguins. Panarin now leads all Rookie’s in scoring. He is an impressive 10 points ahead of Jack Eichel. Panarin has 38 points in 42 games and has recorded seven points in his last five games. Crawford has been in the media recently for being All-Star game snub. Devan Dubnyk and Pekka Rinne are the NHL Central Division All-Star. The media is right Crawford was snubbed by the NHL coaches for the Central team. The media outrage also proves that Crawford might finally be getting the respect he deserves. Crawford  currently leads the NHL in shutouts with six, third in the league in wins, and sixth with .925 save percentage.

The Sabres are trending in the opposite direction of the Blackhawks. The Sabres have lost five in a row and their most recent came at the hands of the Red Hot Panthers. Despite their improve possession numbers, the Sabres are now 15-21-4 on the season. On a positive Jack Eichel is starting to heat up. The rookie savior Jack Eichel produced 12 points in eight games in December. He highlighted his December with four against in Boston, his old stomping grounds.  The future still looks bright with Eichel and the emergence of Ryan O’Reilly and Sam Reinhart.

The Sabres will have Chad Johnson in net. Johnson has filled in admirably for starter Robin Lehner. Lehner injured himself in the first game of the regular season. Johnson has a .914 save percentage in 22 starts. Johnson has never made over 27 starts in his NHL appearances.
