If you have only seen this team when the ‘Hawks play it, you would think that the Avs are surely Stanley Cup favorites (minus last night’s result). The reality is this team is just not at all like that. However, in my opinion, Colorado has players to have the best top line in hockey, but head coach Patrick Roy has been moving players around to spread out the scoring. If they played their top three forwards on the top line, it would consist of 23-year-old Gabriel Landeskog, 20-year-old Nathan MacKinnon and 25-year-old Matt Duchene. They all have 30 or more points on the year, and have contributed to the team having the fourth-best goals-for total (125) in the league.

This is a team that will kill with its speed, but will not really stop teams with its defense. The Avs will just try to out-gun teams and, well, that strategy has not worked as well as they hoped so far. Currently, they sit just outside the second wild-card spot with the same number of points as Nashville. But because of its lack of solid goaltending and defense, this is a team that will not make noise in the postseason. Although, maybe a first-round upset may be in store for them.
