The Chicago Blackhawks have played the most games in the NHL to date at 53, including 14 games in the last 24 days. Tonight they were crushed by the Carolina Hurricanes 5-0. The Blackhawks were lifeless and tired this entire game. Since Artem Anisimov‘s goal against Tampa Bay last week, the Blackhawks have not scored in 179:17 on the road.

The Blackhawks are likely ecstatic to be getting a rest. The Hurricanes, meanwhile, swept the season series and outscored the Blackhawks 7-1 in two games.

The Blackhawks still lead the Central Division at 70 points and, aside from Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, will be off until February 2.
