Forget that you can’t figure out how to pronounce his last name (hell-a-buck). He’s been one of the few reasons for optimism on an underachieving (maybe) Jets squad, stepping in for an injured <strong><a href=. Goaltender. Previous: N/Ath. Connor Hellebuyck. 7. team. 30

Previous: N/Ath. Shayne Gostisbehere. 6. team. 68. It’s been a while since Philadelphia has had good news on the blue line, but Gostisbehere is bringing some. He holds a 60.35 Corsi-for rate among all situations, and he has contributed 22 points in just 29 games, including three game-winning goals.. Defenseman

Duclair is among the youngsters being dropped into the pool with no water wings who has come out swimming nicely. He’s been trusted with as much as 18:18 of ice time in a game and sits tied for fourth among rookies in goals (13) and is fifth in points (25). Oddly, however, he was most recently listed on Arizona’s fourth line. Someone ought to rectify that.. Left Wing. Previous: N/Ath. Anthony Duclair. 5. team. 121

12. He’s 19 years old, guys. Nineteen. Though he has a minus-11 rating, his 16 goals and 34 points are both good for second in Buffalo and second in the rookie races for each category. He’s responding well to the unavoidable pressure of being a savoir for the Sabres, although it helps when the bottom falls out on the team before the season even gets going.. Center. Previous: N/Ath. Jack Eichel. 4. team

A first-round pick of the Coyotes in 2013 (12th overall), Domi has flourished in his first NHL season despite having a so-so group around him. He’s tied with Duclair among rookies with 13 goals but holds fourth in the rookie points race at 32. Three powerplay goals, too.. Left Wing. Previous: N/Ath. Max Domi. 3. team. 121

Previous: N/Ath. Artemi Panarin. 1. team. 94. I felt Larkin was more deserving of the Calder through large swathes of the first half, mostly because Panarin was benefiting largely from playing alongside Patrick Kane. But with Larkin slowing down of late, Panarin is the frontrunner for top rookie honors. He leads all first-years in goals (17), assists (29) and points (46), and while he has some to learn outside the offensive zone in the North American game, his hands and on-ice vision are exemplary. A great offseason signing by Stan Bowman.. Left Wing
