All-Time Blackhawks: Defensemen

Top Pair: Pierre Pilote, Chris Chelios

Second PairDuncan Keith, Keith Magnuson

Third Pair: Bob Murray, Doug Wilson

Scratched: Brent Seabrook

The defensive pairings took a little deliberation but the Blackhawks franchise depth at the position is great. Pilote and Chelios see the most ice-time. The Keith’s pairing would be very interesting

in my eyes with the two-way abilities from Duncan paired with the physicality of Magnuson. Also, Magnuson and Probert on the ice together would make sure there are no shenanigans from the opposition.

Murray and Wilson fit in as a nice third pairing as well, and it helps that most of their careers overlapped and they are familiar with each other. Keeping Seabrook out was difficult, but what was interesting for me was the fact that I REALLY wanted to add Niklas Hjalmarsson to the roster. I really admire his no-flash, workman like defensive game, but taking that into consideration and factoring in the work Seabrook does on both sides of the ice gave him the last spot advantage.
