#3 – Tough Trade Market

In years past the Blackhawks have been able to swap draft picks and prospects to plug the holes they have had at the trade deadline. However, given their needs this season, and the pool of potentially available players, this modus operandi may no longer fly.

As previously mentioned, the ‘Hawks are in need of another defensemen and a top-line left wing; needless to say these types of players won’t come cheap. Furthermore, given some the Blackhawks’ potential trade targets are playing for teams still in the playoff hunt, nothing short of offering a known quantity is going to earn Bowman a seat at certain negotiation tables, a known quantity like Andrew Shaw.
