The Chicago Blackhawks came into Sunday’s game against the league-leading Washington Capitals with renewed excitement. General Manager Stan Bowman had reshaped the roster by bringing in Andrew Ladd, Tomas Fleischmann, Christian Ehrhoff and Dale Weise. Ladd and Fleischmann debuted against the Capitals, who want to be what the Blackhawks are: the defending Stanley Cup Champions.

The Caps came into Sunday’s game winning four of their last five games. They have been the best team in the NHL most of the regular season. The Blackhawks would come out on top in a highly contested game. Chicago received goals from Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Dennis Rasmussen. The Capitals got goals from Marcus Johansson and Evgeny Kuznetsov.
