It’s finally gameday! The Chicago Blackhawks host the Washington Capitals at the United Center before noon to kickoff a full slate of games around the NHL. It’s seemed like weeks even though it’s only been three days since the Chicago Blackhawks played last, Stan Bowman pushed all his chips to the middle of the table making big trade after big trade to put the Hawks in position for a shot at back to back Stanley Cup Championships.
The Chicago Blackhawks added a first line winger in Andrew Ladd and boy was that exciting news on Thursday night. The Chicago Blackhawks have struggled finding anyone to play in the that spot alongside Jonathan Toews and Marian Hossa, and after tons of auditions Stan stepped in and acquired Ladd to fill the role.
The best part of the trade is that a player like Andrew Shaw who will still be on the top line today due to the Hossa injury will be back in his best slot which is a winger on a bottom 6 role. Of course this doesn’t factor into today’s game, but it is something to look for come next week when the Hawks are back to 100 percent.

The Hawks will be looking today to get back into the win column after losing both games this past week, and now they trail the Dallas Stars in the Central Divisional Standings with the injury riddled St. Louis Blues looming 2 points behind the Hawks.
One line that has been very quiet for the Hawks lately has been the 2nd line, but with the addition of Ladd they should start to see some more balance in the scoring and the matchups opposing coaches are sending out.
The Washington Capitals are visiting Chicago with the best record in the NHL, and not only that they are on pace for the best regular season of all-time. This will not be an easy game for the Hawks, but it should be a fun one and here are the listings for today’s game.
