The calendar turned to April this morning, and the Chicago Blackhawks can now see the light at the end of the tunnel.  The Chicago Blackhawks only have 5 games left in the regular season, and the final 5 starts with a tilt against the Winnipeg Jets on the road on the final game of a short 4 game road trip.

The Chicago Blackhawks easily beat the Jets 4-0 on the road in Winnipeg on March 18th, and the Hawks will be looking towards another effort just like that tonight to get some momentum building as the Hawks head towards the Stanley Cup playoffs.

The Hawks will be missing Corey Crawford again, and it doesn’t look like we will see him before the season ends, although he’s supposed to start skating hopefully this weekend.  The biggest loss for tonight and a few other games will be Duncan Keith, the all-world defenseman will be sitting out tonight as he awaits word from the NHL Department of Safety on how long his suspension will last.

Oh by the way Marian Hossa will also be out tonight due to an illness, but the Hawks will get Brent Seabrook and Artem Anisimov back in the lineup so that’s always a plus.  The Hawks need to get the offense rolling which means the second line needs to find it’s first half legs while the power play could chip in a goal or two just for fun.

The one thing that quietly has improved with the return of Marcus Kruger to the lineup is the penalty kill.  The PK will be needed come playoff time to keep the other team off the scoreboard. This special teams group is more important in my opinion than the powerplay.  It’s two points and some Big momentum on the line from Winnipeg, and here are the listings for tonight’s game.

The prediction part of the program has been a struggle for all of March, but with the calendar saying April it’s about time to put together some solid predictions.

Final Score Prediction– The Winnipeg Jets are playing out the string, and they have nothing to play for at this point.  The Chicago Blackhawks will keep this a game, but like their last visit will pull ahead late and win the game 4-1.

Three Stars Predictions

#1 Star- Patrick Kane– 1 Goal 1 Assist

#2 Star- Scott Darling-34 saves

#3 Star- Jonathan Toews– 2 assists
