The Chicago Blackhawks were able to steal Game #2 of the Western Conference Quarterfinal matchup against the St. Louis Blues, and now they head home to the United Center to try and defend the home ice advantage they worked so hard to get on Friday night.

The biggest takeaway outside of the controversial offsides call to me was the fact the Corey Crawford after missing almost a month of action looks back to his Vezina worthy zone that he was in during most of the season when he literally saved the Hawks first half of the season.   Crawford in the win as we have all probably stated before topped Tony Esposito for the All-time lead in Chicago Blackhawks victories as a goalie.  Crawford always goes under the radar, and this record just shows how steady he’s been since taking over as the Chicago Blackahwks #1 goalie in the 2010-2011 season.

Before Game #2 the Chicago Blackhawks talked about how important it was to get bodies in front of St. Louis Blues goalie

Brian Elliott

and to get some greasy goals, and low and behold there was bodies in front of

Duncan Keith

‘s goal to tie things in the last seconds of the 2nd period, and

Andrew Shaw

was in front of Elliott to bang home a

Brent Seabrook

rebound to give the Hawks the lead they would never surrender.

The Chicago Blackhawks will now be looking to keep home ice advantage with their afternoon tilt with the St. Louis Blues today.  The Hawks offense hasn’t been clicking yet, but as we have seen in previous seasons, it takes the Hawks a few games to get going so I’m looking for more goals today then we have seen in the first two games of the series especially with the threat of Chelsea Dagger playing which opposing teams really despise during the playoffs.

More from Blackhawks News

For the St. Louis Blues this will be a huge character test for them, in the past this is when they normally fall apart when they have met any type of conflict. The Blues have the talent but as people have stated that they don’t always win with their character.  It will be interesting to see how the Blues come out and play today.
