Chicago Blackhawks Sunday Viewing- 2010 Playoff Run

By Keith Schultz

Chicago Blackhawks Sunday Viewing takes a look down memory lane in Chicago Blackhawks history and today we take a look back at the 2010 Stanley Cup Championship Run.

The Chicago Blackhawks had made the 2009 Western Conference Finals, and they had a sensational 2010 regular season which all led to what ended up being a magical 2010 Stanley Cup Playoff run which ended with the Chicago Blackhawks hoisted the Stanley Cup for the first time in 49 years.

The Chicago Blackhawks took on the Nashville Predators in the opening round of the playoffs which was probably the worst possible matchup the Hawks could face in the playoffs in 2010.  Nashville Predators coach Barry Trotz was in full suck all the wind out of the ice rink mode with goalie Pekka Rinne leading the way.

The Predators really had the Hawks on the ropes in the opening round and were about to take a 3-2 series lead until

Patrick Kane

worked some magic in the final seconds of Game #5 to tie the game.

Marian Hossa won the game in overtime and the march to the Stanley Cup Final was in motion.

The Chicago Blackhawks took on their hated rival the Vancouver Canucks in the 2nd round of the playoffs and they disposed of them in 6 games with

Dustin Byfuglien

taking over for most of the series and he also threw in a hat trick in Game #3 of the series.

The Chicago Blackhawks headed out to San Jose for the Western Conference Finals and if you blinked at all it was over because the Hawks were in the zone and swept the Sharks.  You knew it was going to be a short series when Dave Bolland was under the Sharks skin in Game #1 when he got slashed on a faceoff and the Sharks just melted from that moment on.

The Stanley Cup Final was the Hawks facing the Chris Pronger led Philadelphia Flyers who fought back from the brink of elimination to get to the Finals.  I had to work the night of Game #1, but we had a TV in the breakroom and every time I walked in to check the game there seemed to be a goal in wild 6-5 Chicago Blackhawks victory.

The home team won every game in the series with the road team almost making comebacks in every game until it was time for Game #6 when Patrick Kane worked his magic one more time, and he was celebrating the Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Championship before anyone else knew what was going on including Antti Niemi who Kane was jumping into after the goal.

So here is every goal from the 2010 Stanley Cup run by the Chicago Blackhawks and I’ll tell you it never gets old seeing #88 score and wondering if it had really gone in when the shot went past Michael Leighton.
