Chicago Blackhawks Rumors- Nick Schmaltz Signing

The Newest Chicago Blackhawks Rumor This Morning Is That Nick Schmaltz Is Going To Sign With The Chicago Blackhawks as soon as today!
The Chicago Blackhawks traded Teuvo Teravainen last week which left plenty of fans asking why would Stan Bowman make such a move with a young player with a high ceiling just to move Bryan Bickell’s contract off the books.
It’s been a week of questioning the Chicago Blackhawks GM and I have been one of them. The regrets of one contract shouldn’t have cost the Chicago Blackhawks another young talented player that had already been a Stanley Cup Champion.
Then this morning a new wrinkle in the plan has come to light, and it’s one most Chicago Blackhawks fans could see as the bright side of the moon after a really dark week.
Here is a tweet that can make your week a little bit better.
Source says the Blackhawks have signed North Dakota F Nick Schmaltz. No contract details yet.

Nick Schmaltz is the guy that could replace Teuvo Teravainen and held fill not only his skates but keep the talent pipeline going with the Chicago Blackhawks system.

Schmaltz won the NCAA Championship with the University of North Dakota this past season, and it didn’t appear that he was going to sign with the Chicago Blackhawks but return back to UND to continue to work on his game.
Schmaltz was all offense his freshman season, but the one thing that is very impressive about this future Chicago Blackhawks is that the Hawks brass talked to him about playing a 200 foot game which as we all know is something that is all important to play for Joel Quenneville and the Chicago Blackhawks at the highest level. Schmaltz took the talking to heart and became a member of the UND special teams including the penalty kill.
Is Schmaltz able to sign and head right to Chicago this fall? That is the question, but if he does sign one would have to think that Stan has told him he will have a 100% chance to make the team and that with the Teuvo trade there is a slot waiting for him to seize. Of course there are others trying for that spot from Denis Rasmussen or Tanner Kero, but I have to believe that Schmaltz ceiling is much higher than those other Chicago Blackhawks prospects.
It’s a rumor but it is a good one! Let’s hope it happens today or tomorrow!
