Michal Rozsival — Slowpoke

Yes, there is a Pokemon named Slowpoke. I’m not just straight-up insulting Rozi. It’s a backhanded insult, if anything.

Slowpoke is actually characterized as a rather dim creature, which Rozsival isn’t. But the Pokemon’s other key attribute — doing things very slowly — definitely applies to the Blackhawks’ elder statesman.

Jonathan Toews — Geodude

This is the pretty serious-looking Pokemon, and in that way it fits Toews well. Geodude is a smaller rock Pokemon who packs a punch when needed. Toews is the Blackhawks’ rock in many ways, being the team’s captain, and he doesn’t put up with much on the ice. That’s why we’ve seen him drop the mitts with Joe Thornton and David Backes, despite giving up size and fighting ability to both.

Geodude may not be the most imposing looking Pokemon, but he’ll put you in place if need be. That describes Toews pretty well, I’d say.

Brian Campbell — Charizard

Charizard is a giant, fire-based Pokemon. It is mostly orange and has a flame on its tail. Campbell has red hair. Enough said.
