Good Morning Chicago Blackhawks fans!

It’s that time in the summer, meaning the month of August, when there is pretty much no news to talk about with the Chicago Blackhawks.  When I mean no news, I mean the biggest news story all of last week was watching Jonathan Toews jump off a 30 foot cliff into a lake.

Sure there may be some news when we reach August 15th though because that is the date Jimmy Vesey will become a free agent and be able to sign with any team around the NHL.  If the Chicago Blackhawks GM Stan Bowman could sign the talented player it could make up for Bowman having to trade away first round picks the past two seasons at the trade deadline to bolster the lineup for Stanley Cup runs.

Two years ago if you want to TBT it was Kevin Hayes doing the same disappearing act on the Chicago Blackhawks and he eventually signed with the New YorK Rangers. He’s been ok in his two seasons with the Rangers scoring 31 goals over two seasons 50 assists and 81 points.

The Rangers may be the team that is the biggest competitor for Vesey for the Chicago Blackhawks, and the selling point for the Rangers will probably be look at Kevin Hayes who played at the NHL level from day #1.   The Hawks could counter that they have a lot of holes to fill compared to two years ago, and like Nick Schmaltz you can win a spot on day #1 with this roster that the Chicago Blackhawks will be bringing to training camp this season.
So not a bunch of old picks for a TBT, but looking back at Hayes and how it could effect the Vesey signing in 11 days or so.
