No. 22: RW Troy Brouwer (2008-11)

Yeah, so No. 22 doesn’t have quite the storied history No. 21 has. Maybe if Marcus Kruger wore it longer? We’re pretty much left with Brouwer here, since he was part of a Cup win in 2010. And he wasn’t entirely along for the ride on it, as he did contribute some offensively.

After wearing 29 and 26 to start his Blackhawks career, Brouwer went to 22 for the 2008-09 season. He was fine offensively in his time with Chicago, posting seasons of 26, 40 and 36 points. He was a force with the body, racking up 189 hits in the Cup season and 262 more the year after. He was also generally responsible with the puck, posting a positive ratio of takeaways to giveaways all three seasons in No. 22.

He did go through some benching issues in the 2010 postseason, but still came away with eight points (four goals) in 17 contests. Brouwer was a guy who would get to the net (as he still does today) and wreak havoc, but he could also thread a shot through a crowd from somewhat far out.
