Good Morning Chicago Blackhawks fans, and welcome to the morning after Jimmy Vesey has chosen the New York Rangers over the Chicago Blackhawks.

The last couple of weeks have been about one thing and one thing only, and that was Stan Bowman trying to get free agent and former Hobey Baker winner Jimmy Vesey to sign with the Chicago Blackhawks to help fill out his top line for the 2016-2017 season.

The plan failed when Vesey announced that he was signing with the New York Rangers. The Chicago Blackhawks sent Patrick Kane to the meeting with Vesey, but it appears that an old nemesis in the name of Kevin Hayes could have been the reason Vesey chose the Rangers instead of Chicago.

Hayes, who already took this route when he was drafted by the Chicago Blackhawks but refused to sign here after his brother was traded away the spring before he would have signed in Chicago, was the player taken to the meeting with Vesey and oh by the way they were work out buddies all summer long.

The Hayes thing is salt in the wound for some Blackhawks fans, but if you listen to some scouts they don’t see Vesey ever solidifying a top 6 role in the NHL which is what the Chicago Blackhawks need right now since Richard Panik is slated to be skating along side Jonathan Toews when the season kicks off.

You win some and you lose some, Stan Bowman won Artemi Panarin last year but he lost Jimmy Vesey this summer. Time will tell how big of a loss this really was.
